Journal of the Fourth Military Medical University (Disi Junyi Daxue Xuebao) (ISSN 1000-2790，CN 61-1060/R) commenced publication in March, 1980. The journal is one of the most popular and widely-read peer-reviewed general medical journals in China. Published as a semimonthly (24 issues/year 96 pages, A4 size) by the Fourth Military Medical University, the journal carries editorials, papers on original research, widely-cited review articles, correspondences and case reports, covering a wide range of subjects, including basic medicine, clinical medicine, military medicine, aviation & aerospace medicine, stomatology, traditional Chinese medicine and Chinese medicinal herbs, Chinese acupuncture, and biomedical engineering.

Journal of the Fourth Military Medical University is stringently edited and peer-reviewed to ensure the originality, validity, practicability, scientific merit and clinical relevance of its diverse content. The present editor-in-chief is Professor FAN Dai-Ming, an academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering. The editorial board of the journal consists of over 80 experts specializing in various areas, such as basic medicine, clinical medicine, physics and chemistry, foreign languages and information science, among whom are Professor JU Gong, an academician of Chinese Academy of Science and Professor CHEN Zhi-Nan, an academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering.

Journal of the Fourth Military Medical University, both China's source journal and core journal, has been indexed by all the China's major data retrieval systems and some international retrieval systems, among which are Ulrich's Periodicals Directory (UPD) and Chemical Abstracts (CA) in the United States, Реферативный Журнал (РЖ) in Russia and Index of Copernicus (IC) in Poland. The journal has been awarded the First National Journal Prize, the Prize of China's Top 100 Excellent Academic Journals and the Prize for Excellent Journal of Science and Technology of China's Institutions of Higher Leaning. The impact factors and the total citation frequencies of the journal rank top among all the medical academic periodicals in China.

Journal of the Fourth Military Medical University went fully on line in 2001 and has archived all its issues dating back to 2001 on the internet. The journal is available by personal subscription to individual physicians. It is also available by subscription to institutions, libraries and biomedical companies.
